Harry Glickman Award
The MJCC selects two winners for the Harry Glickman Award each year. Any Jewish student athlete who has lived in Oregon for the past three years and is a junior or senior in high school is eligible. Two winners are selected and recognized at our Community Celebration. This award was established in 2012, in honor of Harry Glickman (z”l), the “father” of professional sports in Oregon. He was the founder of the Portland Trail Blazers, the Trail Blazers’ President from ‘87-’94 and the founder of the Portland Buckaroos. He is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Applicants are judged on academic and athletic achievement as well as their commitment to community service. Winners receive a $500 scholarship for college. Students can apply at oregonjcc.org/glickman

NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS: The NFHS is the national service and administrative organization of high school athletics and fine arts programs in speech, debate and music.
NATIONAL INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION: A NIAAA is national professional organization, administered by and for high school athletic administrators.
OREGON SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION: The OSAA governs activities between schools in Oregon.
AMERICAN SPORT EDUCATION PROGRAM: Educational courses and resources for coaches, directors, and parents to make sports safer, more enjoyable, and valuable for children and young adults.
