Harry Glickman Award
The MJCC selects two winners for the Harry Glickman Award each year. Any Jewish student athlete who has lived in Oregon for the past three years and is a junior or senior in high school is eligible. Two winners are selected and recognized at our Community Celebration. This award was established in 2012, in honor of Harry Glickman (z”l), the “father” of professional sports in Oregon. He was the founder of the Portland Trail Blazers, the Trail Blazers’ President from ‘87-’94 and the founder of the Portland Buckaroos. He is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Applicants are judged on academic and athletic achievement as well as their commitment to community service. Winners receive a $500 scholarship for college. Students can apply at oregonjcc.org/glickman

In the fall of 2013, the OADA Executive Board made a commitment to establish the first ever five-year strategic plan for the organization. The association has grown dramatically over the past 54 years, especially the past 10 years. To assure continued and member-driven progress, the leadership decided it was time to put in place a road map that would guide the path of the Association for the next five years. The Strategic Plan is that road map. In the Winter of 2022-23 a special committee, lead by Bill Bowers, created an updated Plan to take us through 2027.
